New Neighbourhood Watch

Updated: Oct 21

Coming to Cardrona — Find out more at the info event!

We are pleased to share that a new Neighbourhood Watch group is being established right here in our village — starting on St. Brydes Way, Nutwood Close, Pikes Knowe Court and Castle Knowe Way.

This initiative is all about building a safer, more connected community by encouraging neighbours to look out for one another and share helpful information.

👮 Meet Your Local Police Officer

To help kick things off, there will be an information evening, organised by local Marc McColgan, where residents can learn more about how the scheme works and how to get involved.

📅 Date: Tuesday, 30th of September 2025

🕕 Time: 8.15 - 9.00pm

📍 Location: Cardrona Village Hall

Our local Police Constable (PC) will be joining us to talk about the benefits of Neighbourhood Watch, how it helps reduce crime, and what support is available from the police.

🏘️ Who should attend?

This event is especially aimed at residents of St. Brydes Way, Nutwood Court, Pikes Knowe Court and Castle Knowe Way, where the new Watch group will be set up.

📢 Not a CVA Initiative — But aligned with our values

While this Neighbourhood Watch group is not directly organised by the Community Village Association (CVA), we are sharing the details here because our main aim is to bring the community together and promote events that serve and strengthen the village.

We believe this initiative is a great example of residents taking positive steps to support one another — and we are happy to help spread the word.

🤝 Why Neighbourhood Watch?

Neighbourhood Watch groups help to:

  • Deter crime by increasing awareness and communication

  • Build community spirit and a sense of mutual support

  • Create direct links between residents and local police

  • Share useful updates and safety tips

Even a small group can make a big difference.

Thanks,

Franziska
