Anti-Social Behaviour & installation of CCTV

Updated: Oct 21

Increase in Anti-Social Behaviour

Unfortunately, we have seen a noticeable increase in anti-social behaviour in our village recently, particularly around the Village Hall during the evenings and late into the night.

This behaviour, while caused by a small minority, has had a noticeable impact on residents — with disturbances reported even after midnight.

Temporary Removal of Bench

As part of efforts to reduce disturbances and support a safer environment, the bench outside the Hall has been temporarily removed.

This decision was made due to repeated incidents of late-night gatherings and disruptive behaviour. The bench will be re-installed once CCTV is in place, allowing us to better monitor and deter inappropriate activity.

Book Swap/Public Library on Hold

The new Book Swap/Public Library section, which had been planned as a positive addition to the Hall, has also been put on hold.

This initiative will be launched once the new CCTV system is installed, to ensure the space can be enjoyed safely and responsibly by all.

CCTV Installation at the Village Hall

This will be the first time CCTV has been installed at the Village Hall. We hope it will act as a strong deterrent against anti-social behaviour, while also helping to identify individuals involved in any future incidents.

The installation, on Wednesday, 15th of October 2025, of CCTV is an important step in making our village a safer and more welcoming place for everyone.

A Message to Parents and Guardians

We kindly ask all parents and guardians to check in with your children, especially in the evenings. Please ensure you know where they are and what they’re doing.

We know parenting is not easy, and it can be hard to stay on top of everything, but a quick conversation or reminder can make a real difference.

Reporting Concerns

We also encourage everyone in the community to keep an eye out. If you see behaviour that seems inappropriate or worrying, please do not hesitate to speak up or report it.

The more incidents that are reported, the more attention the issue receives from the authorities.

You can also report incidents online via Police Scotland’s secure reporting form:👉 https://www.scotland.police.uk/secureforms/contact

Thank You

We are committed to making our village a safe and welcoming place for all. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support,

Franziska
