Happy Beltane ♥️ 🤍

A big thank you to Annie, her daughter Kathy and Claire who helped hang this year's Beltane bunting! The hall looks bright and ready for the festivities.

For those new to the area, the Beltane Festival in the Scottish Borders is a spectacular week-long celebration. While its roots trace back to the ancient Celtic festival marking the return of summer, our modern tradition dates back to 1897. It beautifully blends historic "Common Riding" customs with pure community spirit.

Highlights to Watch For This Week: ♥️ 🤍

The Riding of the Marches: 🐎

Led by the Cornet and Cornet’s Lass, hundreds of horses and riders patrol the town's historic boundaries.

Fancy Dress Parade (Friday): 🥻 👗

The entire town turns out in amazing, creative costumes for a lively street procession.

Red Letter Day (Saturday): 👑

The grand finale, featuring the Crowning of the Beltane Queen on the Parish Church steps, marching bands, and decorated floats.

Wishing everyone in the community and all our visitors a fantastic week full of fun and great memories! 🎉🐴🥁

Cheers,

Franziska

PS: In case this feels important to some- I checked and our helpers just wanted their first name mentioned 😉
