O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree... ๐ŸŽ„

Updated: Nov 10

Weโ€™re thrilled to announce a big change this Christmas. The CVA have opted for new plans when sourcing a beautiful Christmas tree to adorn our Village Green this year and have instead arranged for a tree to be planted rather than a temporary felled tree.

We have chosen a Norway Spruce due to its stunning shape and lush foliage. Not only is this species known for its resilience, and ability to thrive in our climate, but also boasts excellent needle retention, ensuring that our tree will remain vibrant throughout the year.

A special thank you to local professional tree surgeon Ross Falla, who has consulted on plans and will be planting the tree for us!

Planted Christmas tree benefits

  1. Lasting sustainabilityย

Planting a tree contributes to a sustainable future. While cut trees can be enjoyed for a short time during the festive season, our planted tree will continue to grow, and we hope thrive.

This will support offsetting our carbon footprint and improve air quality year after year.

  1. Supporting local wildlife

A living Christmas tree will enhance local biodiversity by offering a permanent habitat for wildlife and we hope will support various plant and animal species in the area over its lifespan.

  1. Fuss-free festivities

A planted tree will need less logistics and ongoing effort compared to a cut tree, including be disposed of responsibly after the holiday season.ย

We also hope to streamline our efforts and reduce the need for extensive maintenance and support along with any associated costs.

  1. Celebrating together

We understand there's been previous challenges in gathering volunteers for various projects such as the Christmas tree installation. We believe that planting a tree has potential to foster community spirit by inspiring new traditions in the Village to decorate the tree and prepare the Hall and Green for Christmas.

We believe that your new tree will serve as a beautiful centrepiece for our celebrations, bringing joy to our community year after year.
