We’ve been made aware that the footpaths linking The Green to Govan’s Way and Cardrona Way to the eastern side of Cardrona Playpark have become overgrown and are not only an eyesore, but also causing access issues.
Looking into this, we recognised the need for something to be done. While these footpaths are not part of our responsibility to maintain, after much consideration we decided that it’s important they’re given a general tidy and cut this year, just before the winter. We’ll be using CVA funds and hiring a professional to achieve the best possible outcome.
Before we go ahead, we’re seeking volunteers to represent and assist with maintaining these footpaths linking the Village, after the work has been carried out.
We believe that with a little teamwork, we can maintain and keep full accessibility. If you have a few minutes to spare once in a while during the year, your help would make a big difference!
Ideally, we’re looking for at least two green fingered volunteers to share this responsibility to help with the maintenance and tidying of these linking footpaths.
The work would involve light gardening tasks such as managing encroaching branches, trimming overgrowth and a general clean-up to ensure the footpaths remain accessible and well-kept for everyone in the community.
If this sounds like something you’d be happy to support us with, please reach out to volunteer@cardronavillage.co.uk
Please note that we’re not comfortable carrying out the initial tidying works until we’ve found the 2 representative volunteers mentioned above.
